Dance is strenuous and requires physical exertion. Regular medical examinations are therefore essential in the case of adolescent dancers for the prevention, early diagnosis, and specialist treatment of illness and injury. In accordance with the recommendations of the Association for Pediatric Sports Medicine, the Sport Clinic team conducts two compulsory sports medical examinations a year to ensure students’ physical health. Besides providing orthopedic diagnosis, the examinations comprise an internal medical check-up, an electrocardiogram test, and pulmonary function testing. Costs for these examinations are borne by statutory health insurance for all Introductory and Advanced students. In case of acute illness or injury, students are ensured immediate treatment. Appointments can be readily made through the taZ School Office. The Sport Clinic Zurich is home to highly experienced sports physicians, surgeons, and physiotherapists.
