taZ laureate Caitlin Stawaruk gave a peak performance at the 38th Prix de Lausanne 2010

Australian-born Caitlin Stawuruk, aged 18 and an advanced-level taZ student, won one of the internationally and nationally much-coveted prizes at the 2010 Prix de Lausanne.

This year’s edition of the Prix de Lausanne international dance competition witnessed an outstanding final. The jury did not find determining the winners easy, since the twenty finalists all displayed an extraordinarily level of artistic and technical accomplishment. Out of 226 entered candidates, 81 were selected to take part at the Prix de Lausanne. For the first time in the history of the competition, more boys than girls were selected. Involving 14 boys and 6 girls, the final confirmed the accurancy of this selection.

The 2010 Prix de Lausanne was the last edition of this competition to be presided over by Charles Gebhard. Beth Krasna, Member of the Foundation Board and President of the Funding Committee, will take his place with effect from 1 March 2010. Charles Gebhard played a decisive role in making the Prix de Lausanne more international. Today, the Prix has over fifty partner schools and dance companies across the world. Each year, the competition serves not only participants and their tutors as a meeting place, but it also brings together numerous personalities from the world of dance. Each year, moreover, the Prix de Lausanne transforms the city of Lausanne into the capital of young dance talents.

In acknowledgement of her outstanding achievement, Caitlin Stawaruk has been awarded the taZ scholarship for another academic year.

The directors, students, faculty and staff of the taZ all extend their sincere congratulations to Caitlin on her highly commendable success!
