Introducing the taZ Friends Association
Background
Switzerland has as many talented children in dance as other countries of comparable size. But children here remain at a disadvantage compared to their peers abroad.
How come, you might be thinking?
For physiological reasons, a dancer’s professional career tends to be short. Failing special aptitide or further professional training enabling transition into dance teaching or choreography, most dancers will have to enter another profession when they leave the stage.
Undertaking a professional dance career requires an early start to best promote an existing aptitude while also laying a solid educational foundation for life beyond the stage. Other countries have longstanding and proven training schemes, especially designed to harmonise daily, extensive dance training routines with school education to baccalaureate level. Outside Switzerland, all renowned dance companies recruit their junior dancers almost exclusively from such schemes.
Our mission is to make available comparable opportunities in Switzerland. The growing number of internationally award-winning taZ students demonstrates that we have already made a successful start to attaining this goal. The taZ Friends Association is dedicated to supporting through financial contributions the endeavour to align a professional dance career with school education, in conjunction with the Lernstudio Zürich.
Help us achieve this objective! The taZ Friends Association is a voluntary organization, committed to supporting families unable to bear the full costs of professional dance training.
Through this important contribution to the history of dance in Switzerland, we will make true the dream of young girls and boys to become tomorrow’s professional dancers.
Making it happen!
We aim to support talented children in Switzerland to become professional dancers without sacrificing their educational prospects and career opportunities beyond the stage.
We warmly encourage you to join the taZ Friends Association either as a member or patron. We relish the prospect of sharing unforgettable moments with you, in particular when we witness young talents dancing us away. We can all make an invaluable contribution to promoting the arts and culture in Switzerland.
